Kickstarter Campaign Starts Today!
You guys…I am super excited, and a bit humbled, to announce that I’m launching my first-ever Kickstarter campaign for my brand-new album, Minnesota!
I’ve never made a record with my listeners before. To be honest, it’s equal parts exhilarating and nerve-wracking. I know I can count on your support as we take this journey together because you have come to my shows, played my music at your weddings and funerals, and we’ve created a musical community. This bond between artists and listeners continues to sustain us even as the recording industry changes and the usual channels that were available to recording artists continue to narrow. We wove this fabric together! I am forever grateful that you make it possible for me to share my music on a larger scale than just singing to my children and pets!
Kickstarter is all or nothing, so if I don’t raise my goal amount, I get nothing, and your credit card is not charged. But I don’t want to go there — we can do this!
This is what I need.
Collectively, I am asking for $24,550. This will cover the costs of the musicians, the recording studio time, the producer, the mixing and mastering engineers, the creation of the CD artwork, the CD duplication, the Kickstarter video and the manufacturing of the merchandise. The record itself is already recorded, mixed and mastered; I need your help to finish the process!
Here’s how you can help.
There are a lot of reward levels to pledge such as receiving an early digital copy of the record in May; autographed pre-order copies of the CD before its official release; a cool camping coffee mug with a gorgeous pen-and-ink drawing of the iconic jack pine by my dear friend Phary Woods; hand-written, frame-able lyrics to my songs; Martin Backpacker guitars; Skype songwriting sessions; a custom song written by me for you; house concerts, and more!
The campaign will run for 30 days in the month of April, and I will keep everyone apprised of our progress on a daily basis. I would love it if you would share my Kickstarter link with your friends so that we can reach as many people as possible!
In the meantime, let’s enjoy the rebirth of spring that is happening around us! I bought some yellow pansies in a fit of optimism the other day. I have very aggressive deer in my neighborhood that are not shy about eating anything I plant. A part of me doesn’t begrudge them my flowers — they’re probably a pretty tasty salad. Fingers crossed!
